we need another star full-time engineer to join our small, friendly
and dynamic team.
The successful applicant will be required to be available onsite/offsite
and via phone to deal directly with our customer base providing total
business based solutions.
You will be expected to resolve all problems provided to you. You will
be expected to provide support and train other IT engineers in helping
to solve any issues they cannot resolve directly.
We pride ourselves on providing our customers with superior support
and service hence it is essential that you are customer focused and
have second to none verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Skills:
High-level
of networking including demonstrated work experience with (but not limited
to) VPN setups, Microsoft Domain, Active directory knowledge.
Solid knowledge
of networking principles such as TCP/IP, DFS, DHCP, DNS, NetBIOS etc.
Solid knowledge
of the Internet/ port forwarding, Nating, routing tables, remote access
etc.
Business based
software knowledge in various software programs such as MS Office, RDC,
VNC, Antivirus software, terminal services etc.
Ability to
fix problems and liaise with software vendors to resolve issues.
Excellent understanding
of Microsoft products and understanding of server operating systems
such as SBS 2000, SBS 2003, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2003
Web Server.
Understanding
terminal services licensing models, etc.
High level
understanding of operating systems such as DOS, Windows 95/98/XP, Windows
2000/NT, Windows 2003 Server software.
Excellent understanding
and experience of MS Exchange
Experience
in providing Internet based services and maintaining Web servers and
Internet solutions.
Experience
in managing and maintaining servers to ensure stability and reliability.
Knowledge and
experience of network security appliances in particular Watchguard hardware
firewalls (but not limited to) as well as software firewalls like Smoothwall.
Experience
configuring Cisco switches and routers for optimal business performance.
Ability to
coordinate tasks and manage a small team of technical engineers.
Desired but Non Essential Skills:
Experience
and knowledge of commercial grade VoIP systems
Exposure and
knowledge of Open Source and Unixware platforms
Citrix system
integration and support
Tertiary education
and/or MCSE, CCNA, LCE certification
MAC knowledge
and experience
Data Recovery
knowledge
Personal Requirements:
Drivers license
and own motor vehicle is essential (allowance paid)
Must be prepared
to work outside business hours if required (such as due to server work
or major issues with systems)
Excellent communication
skills.

Well presented
and groomed.
Sense of humour
with a “can do” attitude.
Your application should highlight your knowledge and understanding
of various applications and operating systems.
The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 3 years plus
IT experience, held a Senior Network position or come from another consultancy
and has the aptitude and desire to move into a business related IT position
while maintaining hands on technical experience.
Remuneration will be negotiated based on your professional experience
and knowledge base.
